A little gold birdie told me…

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

weddingstk.jpgTonya and Karl asked me to create a unique wedding invitation for them. Tonya knew right away that they wanted pink, gold & black. She flipped through some clipart books we have and found a funky little birdie, one that both she and her fiance liked. Karl wanted some non-traditional typesetting. So here’s what we came up with! I am pleased with how everything turned out, and I think they are too.

Chickenboy in the news

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

chxboygiftwaretnews.pngOne of my favorite wholesale products was featured in a national publication recently! Many Lunalux customers are familiar with chickenboy, the little critter we print on a series of greeting cards. By far the most popular chickboy card bears the phrase “What’s up, Chickenbutt?” This cheeky greeting was pictured in the Greeting Card Gazette section of the national trade publication Giftware News, page 52 of the January 2007 issue. Lunalux products have been featured in print before, but this is the first time that one of the products designed by ME has shown up in a glossy national publication. It’s good publicity for the business, and as a result we’ve received a number of phone calls from buyers who are interested in carrying Lunalux in their stores. Congratulations, chickenboy!

What color is your mood?

Saturday, February 17th, 2007

colorfulmoods.jpg Jealous of your friend’s new wheels? Concerned about your sister’s long face? Thrilled to hear about your mom’s promotion? All of the above? Then you need the Colorful Moods, the newest addition to the Habitual Correspondent line by Lunalux.

Colorful sentiments such as GREEN WITH ENVY and WHY SO BLUE? are letterpress-printed (in appropriate colors, of course) on bright white vellum-finish card stock, and paired with matching envelopes. With eight cards in all, this set is sure to suit your entire rainbow of emotions. One of each design is included in a vinyl folder (the folder shows 4 of the cards, and a label describes the others), and the package retails for $15. You can finally let your co-worker/buddy know, with the BROWN NOSE card, that you see him kissing up to the boss!

The Habitual Correspondent line includes 5 different sets of cards (so far), each with a different them: Days of the Week, Months of the Year, Phases of the Moon, Seasons, and Colorful Moods. The series of cards are meant to help people develop the habit of letter writing. The cards fit into sweet little envelopes (3.5 by 5 inches, the smallest size allowed by the U.S. Postal Service), so there’s no pressure to write on and on. Each day (or month, or mood) just jot down a brief note. Yor friends will aprecite the hand-written notes in their mailbox!

Tickets on sale for MNRG March 3rd bout

Friday, February 16th, 2007

derbycrowd.jpgNote: Tickets for the April 28 MNRG 2006-2007 Championship bout will be available in early April.

Lunalux is an official ticket outlet for the Minnesota RollerGirls – mainly because the owner of Lunalux (that’s me!) also plays roller derby! I’ve been a bench warmer for the past few months, as I broke my ankle in a derby bout against a team from Ohio back in November. But I’m all healed up and excited to skate again!

So do stop by the store and grab a couple of tickets. They’re cheap – only $10 each! And the Minnesota RollerGirls bouts are really fantastic events. Our bouts are at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium (it’s part of the Xcel Energy Center) in downtown St. Paul. We had a crowd of around 3900 fans at our last event back in January! March 3 you’ll see the Rockits (that’s my team) face off against the Garda Belts, and the Atomic Bombshells take on the Dagger Dolls. Grown-ups can enjoy beer and whoop it up a little. But it’s a family-friendly event, and kids under 9 get in for free! So put on some red face paint, come to St. Paul, and cheer on your favorite stationery designer/roller derby player.

New envelope colors

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

colorenvelopes.jpgA new shipment of colored envelopes recently arrived on the Lunalux doorstep. We now have a small mountain of A2 and 4-bar envelopes made from orange, purple and brown papers. It’s not as dramatic as a sexy new stationery system or a brand new product on the shelf. But I’m excited because it opens up new possibilities for the products we make and the services we offer. So watch for more greeting cards, bozed notecards and stationery sets with vivid envelopes!
