Our wholesale catalog has been updated for the first time in TOO LONG! Despite the tactile nature of letterpress printing, we’re sticking with an online digital catalog this time. The 16-page showcase of our ready-made greeting cards and paper goods can be viewed online at issuu.com, along with our wholesale price list. We hope buyers new and old will flip through the virtual pages, as we’ve got some crowd-pleasers. We’re especially happy about our newest quote card, shown here. This card was originally printed as a promotional postcard mailer for our Minneapolis studio store. When it hit mailboxes back in early February, we were so happy to receive so much positive feedback from our friends and clients – we knew we had to offer it as a folded card too. It’s printed in gray and orange inks on a bright-white A2 folder, paired with an orange envelope. Since we started selling them in our shoppe last month, it’s been a hot seller.

We finally have an online shop! Now Lunalux fans near and far can get their letterpress-loving paws on our stuff via the Felt & Wire Shop, a curated online marketplace full of design-driven cards and gifts. Like everything around here, our Felt & Wire shop is a work in progress; we try to add a few new things every day, so there’s an ever-growing selection. Today’s milestone: all of our ready-made holiday cards are now online (including two new creations, shown below). All Chickenboys are  present and accounted for, as are many other customer favorites, such as the Fortune Folio, the Irreverent Series, and the Bacon-Eating Contest card. Thank-you notes, call-me cards, scratch pads and posters are on the short list of Products to Add Soon. We’ve even posted our Stationery Saturday designs there in the last couple months, allowing our friends to order personalized stationery from afar. We’ve flirted with other online marketplaces in recent years, but they all felt too cluttered and anything-goes. When we found the Felt & Wire Shop, it seemed a perfect fit. The site is run by the fine folks at Mohawk paper (they make Strathmore Writing, one of our go-to stocks for greeting cards, stationery & invitations), and we love that there’s a tight focus on stationery and other paper-based goods. It’s truly an honor to be included! If you’re a fan of ours, or just a stationery geek in general, you’re sure to flip out over all the creative products for sale, from gritty wood-type posters to polished calendars and hand-bound journals. We try not to spend too much time clicking around over here, lest we spend all of our allowance in one place!

After creating a couple of wedding invitations featuring this squirrelly image, we decided to use it on birthday and thank-you cards (printed on our favorite paper: 88# natural white Strathmore bristol cover). And so our line expands again, a little at a time. More importantly, we’re thrilled to release a refreshed catalog for our wholesale line! This 16-pager includes photographs of all greeting cards, call-me cards and stationery sets that we’re currently offering (including over 2 dozen new greeting cards released in 2009). Wholesalers old and new are encouraged to visit the catalog page to download the the catalog (split into three big PDF files) and the wholesale price list and take a look at our current lineup; we think you’ll be impressed! Though sales have been sluggish for us (and, uh, everyone else in the world?), we’ve noticed that stores who are ordering from us are also re-ordering, on a pretty regular basis! As always, we encourage shoppers to check with their local card and gift shops, we love to send business to the stores who have been supporting us for years. June brings to mind two big holidays: Father’s Day and graduation season. So if you’re looking to honor the dad or the grad in your life with a little hand-written love, Lunalux has just the cards for you. Our studio store is stocked with a great selection of designs from some of our favorite card lines, including Hello Lucky, La Familia Green, Cribnotes, Spark, and Egg Press. On the grad side, we’re most pleased to introduce the newest addition to our wholesale line. Everyone’s favorite heavy metal hand gesture is paired with the triumphant declaration: “School’s out for summer! School’s out forever!” Letterpress-printed with black and purple inks on bright-white wove-finish Strathmore cover, paired with a purple envelope. This card rocks! But if you prefer a more sentimental approach to such milestones, this Kierkegaard card might be more your speed. We first printed this a few years ago as a New Year mailing to our loyal customers, but we’ve since come to love it as an encouraging bit of wisdom to someone who’s facing big life decisions (hello, graduates!). It’s letterpress-printed in black, cornflower blue and mermaid green on hefty suede-like ecru card stock. For the father figures in your life, we also have a handsome assortment of cards to consider. In the past few months, we have created lots of new letterpress-printed greeting cards for our wholesale line. Last week we sent samples to our sales reps; now we want wholesale buyers new and old to see them too! The 22 new cards — a monumental release by Lunalux standards — includes an addition to the very popular Chickenboy series. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we have a tu-tu-clad chickenboy-ballerina, mid-grand jeté, declaring “I love you this much!” You’ll find other love-themed cards that are great for V-Day, plus new designs for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and graduation, some holiday cards (plan ahead for Christmas ’09!) and plenty of charming everyday. As soon as we get these new cards properly promoted, we’ll start work on a new full catalog, which we hope to have ready in the next month or two.
