Since our studio opened in 1993, we have come to love and appreciate our customers. We continue to search for new ways to show gratitude to the repeat shoppers who go out of their way to support this quirky little brick-and-mortar shop. Our newest brilliant scheme: LUNABUX. We introduced this virtual currency on November 20, 2010. Shoppers are encouraged to collect LUNABUX and store them in a safe place; they don’t have a real cash value, but soon you’ll be able to use them to purchase limited-edition letterpress-printed paper goods that cannot be purchased with old-fashioned American dollars! The LUNABUX merchandise collection, still in development, will be an ever-changing selection of greeting cards, notepads, and paper ephemera. We aren’t quite ready to reveal the goods yet, but we wanted to give you folks head start on the collecting.
The main way to earn LUNABUX: shop at our shoppe! When you spend $30 on products in our studio store, or on custom printing, you earn a LUNABUX. Spend $60 on greeting cards & pens, you earn 2 LUNABUX; spend $600 on birth announcements, you earn 20 LUNABUX!!
Here are a few ways you can earn more LUNABUX:
• complete a Card Club punch card
• correctly answer an in-store trivia question
• attend and purchase personalized stationery at a Stationery Saturday event
• ply the Lunalux staff with coffee, treats, or flattery
• bring in a doggie treat for MacGuire (you only get a LUNABUX if he eats it!)
LUNABUX will be distributed at the discretion and whim of the Lunalux staff, and sneaky behavior will not be tolerated.
Keep an eye on this page, and the Lunalux blog, for more news about the LUNABUX program.
- Stationery Saturday with Caravan Vet
For the April 6 Stationery Saturday, we’re personalizing animal-themed lettersheets. Crazy for cats? You’ll love the sleepy kitten. Fancy a fox? We got that covered. And there’s a wiener dog, a chickadee and a squirrel too! Pick your favorite critter (or two) and we’ll imprint a set for you with the name or phrase of [...]
- Meet Reggie, our newest intern
We knew we would offer Reggie an internship before his interview was even over. Like many we’d interviewed before, he brought samples of his work. He didn’t have any letterpress or printmaking experience, but demonstrated great attention to detail and a love of the hand-crafted when he showed us what he’d been making lately: paracord [...]
- Stationery Saturday: Two projects, one day
Stationery Saturday on December 3 will feature two different projects. Personalized photo cards will be running on the Heidelberg Windmill, while the Vandercook cranks out Americana buckslips. Whichever you choose, you’ll go home with a unique set of cards, printed just for you. First up: Holiday Photo Cards! We’ve created three different designs, pre-printed with [...]
- Stationery Saturday: a collaboration
Stationery Saturday on November 26 will be unlike any we’ve done before. Our cards this week are a collaborative effort between Lunalux and St. Paul-ite Lee Anne Swanson-Peet. This talented artist and seamstress has created two unique designs that we’re offering for personalization during this event. The retro Hotel Holiday design, printed in dark green [...]
- Stationery Saturday: wood-type folded notes
Our collection of wood type has been a great source of inspiration for us lately, and it shows in this week’s Stationery Saturday designs. We filled a press with a bunch of orphan characters, and printed this mismatched pattern on folded cards. Saturday November 12, from 11a.m. to 6p.m., guests in our Minneapolis studio can [...]
- Welcome back, Morgan
Many changes afoot at the Lunalux studio. John, our beloved printer who ran the Heidelberg here for nearly 10 years, has left the studio to invest more time in his own card line (you may have seen it in our shoppe – Dude and Chick). This left studio owner Jenni in need of a new [...]
- Stationery Saturday: Patriotic Buckslips
As the summer winds down, we’re feeling nostalgia for mom-baseball-and-apple-pie kinds of comforts. With love of country in our heart and the national anthem on our mind, we created a series of four red-white-and-blue buckslip notecards. During the September 10 Stationery Saturday event, all four designs will be available for personalization while you wait! The [...]
- Pride poster
This weekend’s Pride festival in Loring Park will bring thousands of folks to our neck of the woods. We invite everyone to stop by our studio for a little printing project, to raise money to combat the Minnesota Marriage Amendment on the ballot in November 2012. Our Vandercook proof press will be set up with [...]
