Select Saturdays, Lunalux shoppers can go home with hot-off-the-press customized paper goods. Each Stationery Saturday, we print a unique design, utilizing a selection from our collection of antique lead and wood type. Some weeks we print from delicate monogram sorts, other times with weathered wood type. It might be stationery sheets, or folded cards or flat notecards, and the styles vary from traditional to modern. The paper is cut, the press is ready to go, you just pick the letters and watch us work it Gutenberg-style. You’re welcome to look over our shoulder as we work, and we’ll de-mystify letterpress printing step-by-step. Or leave us to do the heavy lifting while you browse in our studio shoppe. We also offer complimentary coffee and a homemade cookies for you to enjoy whilst shopping. Your personalized stationery is ready before you know it! February 4, 2012 – The 2012 Stationery Saturday schedule begins with a collaboration between Lunalux and Unique Artistry, a stationer that combines beautiful papers with the craft of sewing. With our friends at UA, we’ve designed a lovely layered stationery project with lots of mix-and-match possibilities. First, the printing. We’ll have our press loaded with gray ink, and a case of lead letters ready for setting. Jenni of Lunalux will letterpress-print the text of your choice on 3.5 by 5-inch rounded-corner flat cards (metallic white or matte white? you decide). Next up: the stitching. Andrea from Unique Artistry will be manning her machine, sewing your choice of decorative papers onto your printed cards, using assorted colors of thread. Your assembled cards will be packed with bright envelopes and a letterpress-printed tag, ready for gifting or stashing away. With all the options to choose from, it seems like barely an exaggeration to say that the possibilities are endless! The nitty gritty details: Stationery Saturdays run from 11:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. on select dates. Guests are served on a first-come first-served basis, and supplies are limited. The cost is $29.00 for a set of 10 customized cards. Additional cardss with the same imprint are $2.00 each.
