Personalized stationery letterpress-printed while you wait. Can you believe it? It’s true! Select Saturdays, Lunalux shoppers can go home with hot-off-the-press customized paper goods. Some weeks we’re printing from delicate monogram sorts, other times we set weathered wood type. This is a great opportunity to dip your toe into the tempting waters of custom-printed paper goods, or augment your hoard of letter-writing accoutrements. Customized stationery is a thoughtful gift, too – ideal for weddings, birthdays, graduations, and other special events.
Each Stationery Saturday, we print a unique design, using a selection from our collection of lead and wood type. The paper is cut, the press is inked up and ready to go, you just pick the letters and watch as we work it Gutenberg-style. Studio owner and creative director Jenni Undis operates the Vandercook proof press; you go home with your very own personalized stationery and fond memories of a one-on-one printing demo. There’s a line when you get here? No worries, we work fast! Enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee while you browse in our shop.
Upcoming Stationery Saturday dates:
Sat. Feb. 14, 2009 We’re printing a decidedly non-Valentiney notecard, for those who have had it up to here with the cupids and the boxes of chocolates! Get a name or phrase (up to 18 characters and spaces) letterpress-printed in purple ink on fancy deckle-edged notes. Your customized folded cards can be paired with your choice of white or purple envelopes. This week we’re going to be running the Heidelberg Windmill press for Stationery Saturday, just for a little variety. Customers don’t get that hands-on experience, but you’ll get a close-up view of a very cool machine in action!
Visit Lunalux on the above dates to participate. Cost is $29 for 10 cards/sheets (plus 10 envelopes). Additional pieces: $2 each. Gift wrapping also available.
First come, first served. Sorry, no reservations accepted. If you’re tall enough, we might like you turn the crank. Kids under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
