Stationery Saturday: wood-type folded notes

Our collection of wood type has been a great source of inspiration for us lately, and it shows in this week’s Stationery Saturday designs. We filled a press with a bunch of orphan characters, and printed this mismatched pattern on folded cards. Saturday November 12, from 11a.m. to 6p.m., guests in our Minneapolis studio can get these woodtype cards personalized on the spot, for just $29. For the first time in Stationery Saturday history, two unique customization options will be offered: a monogram in bold aqua letters or a name/phrase in orange type. Here’s how this will work: first select tan or gray pre-printed cards. If the monogram design is calling your name, you’ll head to the Vandercook proof press where Morgan will be printing with aqua ink and sleek wood characters. If you need more than three letters to get your point across, Jenni will take care of you at the Heidelberg Windmill, with orange ink and a couple different 30-point lead fonts. You can tag along as we set type and bring your cards to life, or check out the holiday cards and 2012 calendars in our shoppe while we work the presses. And if you’re too busy to stay, you can place an order on Saturday and pick up your cards at a later date.

Can’t make it to our studio on November 12? You can still get in on this action! We will continue to accept orders (while supplies last) from customers in our shoppe, through November 18. Far-away friends can order online through the Lunalux storefront at feltandwireshop.com.

Stationery Saturday: The Wednesday Edition!

Stationery Saturdays have been such a hit lately, we’ve added a couple extra dates to our December schedule. This week, we’re mixing things up with Stationery Saturday: The Wednesday Edition! We’ll be creating print-to-order monogram note-cards on Wednesday December 1, from 5:00 to 9:00p.m. Though it’s on a weeknight rather than a weekend, it’s the usual drill: pop into our Loring Park studio to view the options in person and place your order. You can enjoy coffee and homemade cookies while we print your personalized stationery, or make plans to pick up at a later date. The cost if just $29 for 10 cards (additional cards are just $2 each). For this special Wednesday event, we’re dipping into our collection of vintage lead monograms. There will be three designs to choose from, and three paper options. Monograms will be letterpress-printed with black ink on 4.25×5.5-inch folded cards. And while you’re in the shop, take a look at our fantastic selection of holiday cards. All boxed holiday cards will be on sale during this event – 15% off regular price. Stationery Saturday: special holiday edition

We have a great day planned for the final Stationery Saturday of the year! In addition to the regular stationery-while-you-wait plan, we’ll be showcasing the amazing hats of designer Amy Downs. With $29 personalized stationery, the unique winter caps, and our shoppe full holiday cards, wrapping paper, and all sorts of great gifts, we think Lunalux will be THE place for last-minute holiday cheer and shopping this Saturday!

We’re so excited that Amy Downs will be selling her hats at Lunalux. Amy had her own little shop in New York’s East Village for 20 years, so we’re very excited to be sharing her creations with our customers. You can read more about Amy and see some of her work on her website www.amydownshats.com. We’ll also have homemade Christmas cookies and freshly brewed coffee for your snacking enjoyment.

Stationery Saturday runs 11a.m.-6p.m. This week we’re printing stationery sheets with ornate vintage monograms. The 5.5 by 8.5-inch stationery sheets can be packed with your choice of white or brightly colored envelopes. At $29 for 10 personalized sheets and envelopes, we think this makes a very special holiday gift (or a little treat for yourself!). Bold gold monogram cards

This weekend we’re hosting one of the year’s last Stationery Saturday events at the Lunalux studio. Saturday, November 28, 11a.m.-6p.m., we’ll use bold wood type to print gold monogrammed notecards. You can look over my shoulder as I set the type and run the antique letterpress, or do a little shopping while I do the heavy lifting. The cost: $29 for 10 cards with matching envelopes. We remodeled our shop back in early October and the shelves are full of tempting treats, so this is an ideal time to shop, even if monogrammed notecards aren’t on your list. We have a lovely selection of holiday cards; Moleskine datebooks and beautiful calendars; and tons of unique gifts and stocking stuffers too. So after the Thanksgiving roller coaster of turkey coma followed by Black Friday shopping adrenaline, we hope you’ll stop by Lunalux.

Celebrate V-Day at Lunalux

In observance of Valentine’s Day, we’re hosting another Stationery Saturday on February 14. Enjoy a glass of champagne or a coffee and some chocolates while your personalized stationery is letterpress-printed before your very eyes! These folded notecards can be customized with a name or phrase of your choice (up to 18 characters and spaces) in purple ink on ecru deckle-edge notecards, and paired with either purple or ecru envelopes. We’ll be running the Heidelberg Windmill this time around (instead of the lo-fi hand-cranked proof press), so you’ll have to keep your hands to yourself.
