New goodies for local letterpress lovers

We’ve been feeling a lot of love for our Twin Towns lately, and it’s showing in our printing. Next time you visit the Lunalux studio store, check out our new collection of Twin-Cities-themed paper goods. A recent snapshot of the Minneapolis skyline (taken from the Franklin Avenue bridge, near the Electric Fetus) was converted into a black-and-white image, which we’ve letterpress-printed along the bottom edge of an A6 flat notecard. We also recently created a bunch of Call-Me cards for the locals, some featuring the 612 and 651 area codes, others with a simple silhouette of our great state. Call-Mes were conceived as do-it-yourself calling cards, but we think these designs are great as place-cards and gift tags as well. Six Minnesota-y designs in all are available, each in your choice of black or red ink on natural white card-stock. The collection is rounded out with 612 and 651 folded notecards (not shown) and of course a couple Minnesota-themed pads from our ever-changing selection of scratch pads. All these products are available in our studio store – check our store page for hours, directions, etc.
Scratch pad fever

When we have interesting scrap paper and some free time in our production schedule, we love to make scratch pads to sell in the studio store; it gives us a low-pressure opportunity to make something cool, and it’s nice to have a constantly rotating selection of pads for sale in the store. In recent weeks, we’ve gone a bit overboard in this department, so we have a ton of great new designs for sale. My favorite was created by John, who used cool vibrant ink colors for overlapping floral silhouettes, printed on bright white textured card stock. These pads are bigger and more elaborate than most of our other designs, so we’re selling them for the top-shelf price of $6.
We’ve also got pads featuring images of bicycles, bunnies, Mexican wrestlers, sunflowers, golf balls, owls and our fine neighbor to the north, Canada! Most recently we printed the state of Minnesota in three colors (red, blue and dark charcoal) on light gray felt-finish card stock. These we’re selling individually for $4 each, or in bundles of three pads (one of each color) tied with a satiny bow for $12 – we think the set makes an excellent present!
All of our pads are letterpress-printed on high-quality papers here in our Loring Park studio, and for sale exclusively in our store for $3-$6 each. They’re so nice and so inexpensive, once you try a Lunalux Deluxe Scratch Pad, you’ll never settle for anything less. Have we infected you with scratch pad fever yet? The only cure is for you to come to our shop and buy some pads. Check out our store page for hours and directions, or read more about recent store news in the blog archives.
Notepad Triads

When Lunalux garnered a mention in the new eat.shop guide to indie Minneapolis/St. Paul dining and shopping, the author made special mention of scratch pads we printed a while back, featuring weighty words like “Honour,” “Valour,” “Passion” and “Compassion.” Because we always print scratch pads in small batches, they were pretty much out-of-stock by the time the book was published. Inspired by eat.shop’s appreciation for the pads, we’ve revived and revised the designs – click on the image at the left for a larger view.
These bundles of three themed pads are now available exclusively at the Lunalux studio store. Like all of our Deluxe Scratch Pads, they’re letterpress-printed in small quantities in our Loring Park studio. Satin ribbon holds the trios together. So far, the Notepad Tiad series includes “to fix, to clean, to buy” (perfect for Honey-Do lists), “love, honor, cherish” (makes a great shower or wedding gift), “shopping list, wish list, shit list” and “the good, the bad, the ugly.” Watch for holiday-themed Notepad Duets to hit the shelves soon.
